Carey was 5'10 inches tall when she became a leading model. The popularity of her with American designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was extremely high. She is the daughter of the world-renowned geologist, who was awarded the title of Scientist of the year from the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey's father was a scientist who travelled the globe as a part of his professional career. As she attended in the University of Colorado at part-time, she caught the interest of the Ford model Agency representative in New York. After moving to France and briefly lived between Paris, Bordeaux and New York and then New York, she made the decision to go back to New York and continue her education. Soon, Vogue, Glamour and various other magazines included her on the covers. In between her modeling assignments she was also a full-time student obtaining a major of literature from New York University. Gradually she became interested in acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. The year 1986 was the year she had her first performance, a bit part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. She loves rock climbing, skiing, and windsurfing.
